*At the time of writing this article, Lena Kross is currently working several high profile dates across the UK. Lena has challenged the Progress Wrestling Women’s Champion, Rhio in what was a certified banger and is scheduled to appear for Ultimate Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling EVE, Wrestling Resurgence & Kamikaze Pro during her current tour*
Now……Introducing, from Perth, Western Australia, ‘The Phenom’ Lena Kross!!!!!
‘Lena Kross has caught the attention of the pro wrestling world, with her imposing and unique look, Lena’s hard hitting strong style offence has caught the eye whilst representing and working for Sendai Girls over in Japan. The stage is set for Lena to take the industry by storm and judging by the positive response spoken by many fans from across the globe, Lena Kross is going to make this industry, her world’
Firstly, lets introduce you to a promotion named NHPW – New Horizons Pro Wrestling, who are based in Perth, Australia.
‘At New Horizons Pro Wrestling, we believe in dreams’, This is the tagline taken from the official site of NHPW. Becoming a pro wrestler is about following those dreams. This Family oriented surrounding fully embraces and supports every aspiring wrestler, regardless of shape, size or skill level. NHPW is a platform to kick start careers and to help beginners unleash their true potential.
‘Learn from the Best, Grow with the Best’.
Once learning about this promotion, I firmly believe that we will continue to see many huge talented individuals on the grandest stage, all because of the hard work, passion and dedication on show from New Horizons Pro Wrestling.
Lets take you back to where it all began in 2017 shall we?!
The date was 27th May 2017 at the NHPW Global Conflict event – Tag 2 @ Cockburn Youth Centre in Success, Western Australia. Lena Kross debuted as a part of the Dating Game, now please forgive my ignorance as I have never witnessed a ‘dating game’ match, however, I am led to believe that this is a battle royal style tag team eliminator…..but it sure does sound juicy. Unfortunately, Lena was not a part of the winning side on her debut that night.
Lena did not have to wait long for her first win in singles competition whilst competing for NHPW, this came in October 2017 at ‘trick or treat’ where Lena Kross overcame Rogan Karguis, Lena would end the calendar year with a DQ defeat at NHPW ‘Final Chapter 8’ against Tyra Russamee.
Â
2018 was right around the corner, and this new up and comer, Lena Kross was about to take NHPW by storm. 2018 proved to be a monumental date with matches in each month up until December.
In May of this year, Lena entered the Global Conflict Tournament, where she defeated Avary & Casey Johns on the way to the final where she ultimately fell short in a losing effort to Madison Eagles.
However, it was on the 11th July where Lena would face her biggest test to date…….
House of Hardcore 46 – Lena Kross vs Angelina Love.
On a show which included names such as Billy Gunn, Lance Archer, NWA World Heavyweight Champion- Nick Aldis, Bully Ray & Members of the former Spirit Squad in WWE to name a few, Lena was tasked with facing former TNA Knockout Champion, Angelina Love who was flanked by ‘Beautiful People’ stablemate, Velvet Sky.
Lena fell short during this encounter, but the opportunity & experience would become forever valuable.
Lena would return home after this show, back to NHPW and the ever exciting Disney rumble was on the horizon. (This is why pro Wrestling is the best in the world). Ariel (Lena) would qualify for the ‘True Ruler of the Seas infinity Gauntlet by defeating Jack Sparrow (not portrayed by Johnny Depp, instead by London Hargreaves). Ariel would later go on to battle in the four way which featured Li Shang, Thor & of course Thanos. The winner here was always ‘Inevitable’.
Ariel was put to one side, as Lena returned to action at NHPW ‘Fall from Grace’ as history was made inside Gate One Theatre, Claremont, Western Australia and a NEW!!!!!! NHPW Warrior Rising Champion was crowned, Lena Kross captured her first test of gold defeating Rogan Karguis.
Shortly after becoming a champion, it was time once again to bring back Ariel for a Disney Rumble, but this time, Ariel was victorious, overcoming names such as Buzz Lightyear, Kylo Ren, Hulk, Spider-Man, Captain America and yes, even Gaston! I have been lucky enough to catch this match online and let me tell you, this is a load of fun so please go out of your way to check it.
2018 was coming close to an end, but, as a fighting champion, Kross would defend successfully against Avary at the annual ‘Trick or Treat’ event before going on to face yet another famous name, Saraya Knight.
Now, you don’t need me to tell you about Saraya and the entire Knight Family, the wrestling fan or movie lover in you can help with your research (Just search ‘Fighting with my Family’).
Kross would challenge for the Blackcraft Women’s title in a Tap out or KO only match. This was held at the NHPW show titled ‘ A Knight of Anarchy’ and boy oh boy it was just that. It wasn’t to be for Lena but as before when facing Angelina Love, the opportunity, guidance and experience would have gone a long way, most certainly as this was only 18 months in to Lena’s Pro Wrestling journey. This was the final match of an historic 2018.
2019 would start hot, going undefeated in NHPW until coming up short in tag team action, once again, Saraya Knight was involved and this feud was heating up…but before we get to that, Lena would debut for MCW – Melbourne City Wrestling. Lets tell you a little bit about MCW shall we?!
Melbourne City Wrestling is an Australian independent professional wrestling promotion founded in 2010, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Melbourne City Wrestling currently has two major venues that they use. MCW hosts monthly events at the Essendon Ukrainian Hall which is fondly dubbed the “MCW Arena” by their loyal following of fans. MCW also hold their super card events, which are only held a few months of the year, within the grand ballroom at the Thornbury Theatre, dubbed “the birthplace of MCW” as the first ever MCW event was held here. They have also previously partnered and co-promoted a show with Progress Wrestling.
In May of 2019 Lena would lose to Kellyanne at a show held in Evie’s Disco Diner, Fitzroy, Victoria, Australia. Kross would return later in the calendar year and unfortunately fall to Avary.
May was turning out to be a huge month for Kross, where in this very month, she would gain a victory over Saraya Knight in the Semi-Finals of the Global Conflict Tournament, Lena’s night did not end there, she would then go and become the NEW!!!!! IndyGurlz Australia Champion by winning the tournament 3 way by besting the defending champion Mercedes Martinez & Nicole Savoy. Notably with victory on this night, Lena became the first ever Western Australian based wrestler to win the Indygurlz Australian title. Kross followed that win with defences against the likes of Erika Reid, Tenielle Dashwood, Brandi Lauren & Su Yung, more on these later.
Lena Would continue to reign supreme in NHPW through June, July, August & September going undefeated in singles competition. Kross defended the IndyGurlz Australia title 3 times across these months against several of names mentioned above, however, it was as at NHPW ‘Anti-Everything’ Where she defeated Su Yung in a no rules match. The title reign was well and truly up and running.
Another debut was on the cards in September 2019, where Lena would compete in a Road to Glory four-way match against Tarlee, Bel Pierce & Stella Nyx. This was competed for the promotion FWA – Future Wrestling Australia. FWA have been active in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia since 2017. WWE’s current star, Grayson Waller featured heavily under the name of Matty Wahlberg for this promotion.
Back to NHPW, a huge title defence was on the cards for Lena as she would face the challenge of Tenille Dashwood (formerly known as Emma in WWE/NXT and has competed in TNA as Tenille Dashwood). Kross would leave the ‘Summer Dash’ show as champion (AND STILL!!!!) … before the year would close, Lena would return to MCW, losing to Avary before back-to-back championship matches in NHPW firstly tagging with Mercedes Martinez to challenge the Tag Champions the Future Legends (Kenicki Wheeler & Rogan Karguis) the match ultimately ended in DQ. What would follow in December was a successful IndyGurlz title defence against Hiroyo Matsumoto before a legendary challenger stepped up just 24 hours later…. Meiko Satomura. The Championship defence vs Meiko would end in count out against Lena, however, she would retain the title in what may have been a career changing opportunity.
It wasn’t until the 18th January of 2020 that Lena would compete again for NHPW, this time challenging for the Warrior Rising title in a triple threat match, Kross fell short on this night as Creek Murdoch would capture the gold in which Kenicki Wheeler entered as champion. January also noted a return to FWA at Femme Fatales Vol 1, defeating Azalea in singles competition.
The beginning of 2020 was an exciting one for Lena Kross, debuting for 2 promotions, firstly at Newy Pro – Newcastle Pro Wrestling based out of Gateshead, New South Wales, Australia. Lena would go on to defeat Steph De Lander at Newy Pro Hoose Party – Hoosecoming before retuning to face Jessica Troy in a losing effort. March 2020 handed Lena a debut at promotion number 2, this time at Wrestling Go! Kross would face Jessica Troy again falling short, before competing the very next day and successfully tagging with Parker Tomas to defeat LUX (Kingsley & Xena).
Unfortunately, the world was about to close, the global pandemic known as Covid-19 shut many doors and affected many lives worldwide, therefore it was on March 8th that Lena would compete for the last time for 6 months when she represented FWA at The Road to Glory in a five-way match. The match was won by Kingsley which also featured Rochelle Rogue, Shazza McKenzie & Xena.
Fast forward to October 2020, Lena would close out the year by representing NHPW and reigniting her feud with Rogan Karguis, firstly by challenging the Art of Fighting Champion and battling to an epic 30-minute time limit draw, this feud would close out the year by challenging Rogan once again, this time in a Last Man Standing Match, this match was part of the Final Chapter XI event where Rogan would finally defeat Kross. This feud will go down as one of the best in the history of NHPW, both Lena & Rogan are two of the biggest success stories, they trained together from the ground-up. Rogan was plagued by the question of who is the best. Rogan had never defeated Kross 1-1 in his career.
Throughout 2021, Lena would continue to show and display clear growth competing on a regular basis for NHPW but it was in July, where Lena & Karguis would battle over the Art of Fighting Championship at ‘Path to Greatness’, it was on this night that Kross would become champion. An inseparable paring whose feud will live on in the history of NHPW.
Yet another promotional debut was on the cards for Kross, this time appearing for STW – Southern Territory Wrestling, a company who began their promotion this very year. Lena faced Stella Nyx which ended in a double DQ.
Amongst more dates for NHPW to close out the year and dropping the Art of Fighting title in a Triple Threat TLC match to Rory Holmes, a match that also featured rival, Rogan Karguis, Lena would feature again for Newy Pro in the Great Southern Rumble.
2022 was on the horizon as were many new opportunities. Between April & November of this Year, Lena would represent the following promotions.
- Newy Pro – Newcastle Pro Wrestling
- PWA – Pro Wrestling AustraliaÂ
- ROW – Renegades of Wrestling
- Slam! Pro Wrestling League
- MFPW – Monster Factory Pro Wrestling*
- Wrestlepro*
*Lena Kross would travel to New Jersey, USA to represent both MFPW & Wrestlepro. It was at WrestlePro where Kross would advance to the Vacant finals for the Women’s title, first be defeating Brandi Lauren before falling short to Lady Frost (Who can be seen on AEW & has competed at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport).
Enter Sendai Girls……….
In November of 2022, Lena Kross would tag with Nina Samuels to defeat DASH Chisako & Sakura Hirota, marking a huge debut win. December would include 3 more appearances for Sendai Girls, including a singles win over Momo Tani. Kross would close out a busy year with a successful Newy Pro Women’s title defence against Charli Evans at ‘Deck the Halls’.
2023 was looking increasingly busy for Lena, including an early appearance back at WrestlePro at the Alaska 4th Anniversary show where she unsuccessfully challenged Lady Frost for the Women’s title. After a couple of appearances once again at PWA, a return to NHPW with back to back title defences where lined up, both being successful, firstly in singles action defeating DELTA & then a triple threat defence against both DELTA & Sumie Sakai.
Matches for IWA – International Wrestling Australia facing Rita Stone on several occasions were met either side of an appearance on the Impact Wrestling Australian Showcase where Kross lost to Kingsley.
A return to Sendai Girls highlighted July of this year, once again tagging with Nina Samuels at the famous Korakuen Hall in Tokyo Japan.
Lena Kross would later return to Newy Pro, to challenge for the vacant Women’s & Middleweight titles in a winner takes all match, Will Kiedis would score the victory here. In August, Kross would represent ROW – Renegades of Wrestling at the GCW vs ROW show in Sydney where she battled the ROW Women’s champion Aysha & Steph De Lander in a triple threat match, the Champion would retain. There was yet another successful defence of the IndyGurlz Australia title at NHPW just 24 hours later as Lena defeated both Amber & Delta before returning to Japan for Sendai Girls where Kross would successfully feature alongside Ryo Mizunami & Aja Kong. Debuts in AJPW & DDT Pro Wrestling were next on the agenda before a 6-day trip to WSW – World Series Wrestling based out of Adelaid, South Australia.
Lena Kross would heavily feature on back-to-back days, mixing it up with Cassie Lee (Formerly known as Peyton Royce in NXT/WWE), Kross would end this trip with a mixed tag match where she tagged with Matt Cardona to defeat Cassie Lee & Shawn Spears. During this stint, Lena would also challenge for the WSW Women’s title, falling short in a triple threat match against the champion Cassie Lee (who retained) & Harley Cameron (Now see on AEW).
2023 would not close before a return to Sendai Girls in November, challenging for the Sendai Girls tag team titles alongside VENY, however, it was not to be as the team known as ‘Team 200kg’ (Chihiro Hashimoto & Yuu) retained.
On 29th December, Lena Kross would become the WrestlePro Women’s Champion, finally toppling Lady Frost at the ‘Full steam ahead’ show in New Jersey. A fantastic way to end a ground breaking year.
Well, if 2023 wasn’t enough, lets head in to 2024, but first lets acknowledge the official PWI Top 250 and at number 92 closing out on the year is Lena Kross. A huge achievement and one that will likely be topped come the end of 2024.
Several dates representing NHPW at Global Conflict 2024 where a tournament final defeat to DELTA would be the final appearance to date for Kross before heading back to WSW in June, teaming with Hammerstone to take on Ash by Elegance (formerly known as Dana Brooke in WWE) & Nic Nemeth ( Do I really need to tell you – former WWE World Heavyweight Champion – Dolph Ziggler) before challenging for the vacant WSW Women’s title in a four-way which was won by Ash and once again having a singles opportunity against the new champion in a street fight where Ash retained.
In July of 2024 Lena challenged for the PWA Heavyweight title, falling short to Jessica Troy before another return to Sendai Girls, losing to Mika Iwata before successfully winning tag team contests with both Nina Samuels & VENY respectfully.
This brings us to the present day, August 2024 to be exact.
Lena Kross is currently lighting up the UK Independent scene. She has wrestled for Progress Wrestling at the iconic Electric Ballroom in Camden, London. Lena has also tagged with Nina Samuels by defeating Emersyn Jayne & Kanji at Pro Wrestling EVE in London. More dates are expected with a trip to the south coast for Ultimate Pro Wrestling in Weymouth, UK & a scheduled 1v1 match against Kanji at the always tremendous Wrestling Resurgence in Leicester.
I will be in attendance at Ultimate Pro Wrestling and I am looking forward to seeing Lena tag with Nina Samuels & Livvii Grace when they face Lana Austi, Lizzy Evo & Ayesharay.
Who knows where Lena Kross will debut next, but on thing is for certain, it is going to be a very fun watch!
